Are you getting married soon? Are you going on your dream vacation next summer? Are you celebrating a milestone birthday this year? If so, you might be looking for a way to speed up your Invisalign treatment. While there technically isn’t something you can do to cut your time with trays in half, there are a few things you can do to avoid treatment plan delays. Here are a few examples!

1. Wear Your Aligners for 22 Hours a Day

Simply put, if you don’t wear your aligners, then your teeth won’t move as anticipated. If your teeth don’t move as anticipated, then you’ll fall off-track with your treatment plan. The best way to prevent this from happening is by wearing your trays for 22 hours a day, every day.

2. Use Your Chewies

Another common reason patients fall off-track with their treatment plan is because they aren’t wearing their aligners properly. Remember, yours should sit flush with your teeth; there shouldn’t be a gap. Using chewies when you put your trays on will help immensely, so make sure to use them!

3. Store Your Trays Properly

Wrapping your aligners in a napkin may seem harmless, but it can lead to them getting damaged or misplaced. If that happens, then the time needed to have them repaired or replaced needs to be added to your treatment plan. That’s why it’s so important that you store them in their designated case!

4. Commit to a Solid Oral Hygiene Regimen

In short, if a cavity forms or your gums develop an infection, then your clear aligner treatment will be put on hold until the necessary restorative care is provided. This can add weeks or months onto the back end of your treatment. The best way to prevent this is by brushing and flossing consistently!

5. Prioritize Your Progress Visits

Your progress visits are crucial for a few reasons, including that they allow your dentist to monitor the movement of your teeth. If one of them isn’t moving as anticipated, they can determine why that is and make the necessary adjustments to your treatment plan, preventing significant delays in the process.
